My first church to photograph from above was Riddarholmen Church, my favourite. When I saw the final result I was more than happy.
Stockholms churches are beautiful and breathtaking architectural creations. They are beautiful both from inside and from outside. Initially they are created to attract people to worship the god and to be seen from a long distance. I was born in the christian family but I am not believer. I just admire and respect those building from their architectural point of view and as the part of the city.
Ridarholmen church my favourite was the first on the list to be photographed. I planed everything carefully before the visit. I left my home and took a walk. With my compact size drone I can walk wherever I want with ease.
Unexpected choice of the home point
The sky was partly clouded and the wind was around 8m/s. Maybe less wind would be better but it wasn’t so problematic after all. I found the best possible place to be my home point. It has to be good spot without so much people. It wasn’t so easy considering that it’s always plenty of tourists and local people coming to watch the sunset. I left the water front and went behind the church where nobody should go. My advantage was that I had a view from the sky.
My first flight was more to explore the different hight and find interesting positions. Then I landed and went quickly through all my photos. I found my perfect position and decided to wait in 10 more minutes. When I was back in the sky and when the light was perfect I was ready.
Riddarholmen Church in the perfect light
I decided to goo with 3 vertical shot panorama heaving the sun and Stockholm City Hall in the background. I flaw around the church from left to right creating the variations of different compositions. Down below you can see two of my favourites from that evening.
