Who wouldn’t enjoy the view of open sea at the coast of Baltic sea? Add to that sunny day and low wind… the perfect conditions for drone pilot!
During the summer we have really long daylight before it get dark. I was looking for new location to fly my drone. East coast at the Baltic sea was a good place to drive and spend a few hours. The sea was supposed to be so calm according to the radar. Predicted wind speed should be around 3 m/s.
After about 50 minutes drive I arrived to parking area and parked my car. The place of my choice was the coast line near the town of Nynäshamn. Exact place where I wanted to fly was around 20 minutes of walk through the forest. My final destination was peninsula called Knappelskär. The weather was perfect as predicted including the low too.
I got problem with my drone
Before I reached my final destination I wanted to fly from a small jetty at the coast. The jetty was built of tree but probably with metal frame underneath. My drone compass was totally crazy and asked me to calibrate my drone all the time. After so many attempt I wasn’t ready for take off. Mavic Air was really sensible drone and needed almost perfect place without any magnetic distortion to operate.
I moved 10 metes behind and climbed up to the top of the stone platform. I succeeded to calibrate my drone after the second attempt and was up in the air. During the calibration process I lost more than 35% of my battery. I just flaw little bit around to document this sunny day at Baltic Sea.
I left the place and walked 5 minutes to reach my final destination. Peninsula was almost empty. Just few families with small kids was plying around. but most of the peninsula was empty. I found little bit off place far away from people and prepared for flight. This time my drone operated without any problems.
I got more then sunny day at the Baltic Sea
I was a pure pleasure to fly at this beautiful place. After my two batteries I took a walk at the coast with my bear feet and enjoyed the rest of the day.
